The history of North Adams Manufactoring Companies began before the American Revolutionary War. North Adams was an ideal location because there were two branches of the Hoosic River that provided water power for the manufactoring companies. Manufactoring in North Adams greatly affected it's population as a group of immigrant workers consisting Irish, Italian, and French Canadian descent came to the city in search of work. Over time many different types of manufacturing companies emerged from North Adams.
